Strengthening the nexus between gender sensitivity and digital education, the Pangasinan State University – Open University Systems (PSU-OUS) and the Gender and Development (GAD) Urduja Center successfully concluded its two-day Capacity Building Seminar today, focusing on the specific challenges and opportunities within the virtual classroom.

OUS Executive Director Dr. Phillip Queroda and GAD Director Dr. Romary Lincod led the second and final day of the event that centered on the implementation of gender-fair practices in distance education.

Dr. Finaflor F. Taylan, Dean of the UPOU Faculty of Management and Development Studies, opened the sessions by addressing Gender Issues and the critical development of a Gender-Responsive Curriculum. Her discussion provided faculty with a roadmap for integrating inclusivity directly into instructional design.

Following this, Dr. Ana Katrina P. De Jesus, Coordinator of the UPLB Office of Anti-Sexual Harassment, led a vital session on creating Safe and Inclusive Learning Environments. She emphasized the university’s role in protecting every learner and ensuring that the digital space remains a sanctuary for academic growth, free from harassment and bias.

This successful two-day collaboration stands as a testament to the proactive leadership of University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas.
By empowering the PSU-OUS and GAD teams to meet with premier institutions like UPLB, the administration ensures that PSU remains at the forefront of academic excellence—cultivating a learning environment that is not only technologically advanced but fundamentally safe, fair, and inclusive for all.
